What is Gouache anyway?! Gouache (rhymes with squash, say it like gwaash!) is an opaque watercolour paint with a very matte finish. Traditional gouache is always re-wettable, whereas acrylic gouache is permanent once dry. |

Printmaking - Hand carved Stamps (Workshop half or full day)
In this workshop, students will design and carve their own handmade stamp(s) using linocut techniques and use it to create a small prints for framing and greeting cards. Note: If time allows / seasonal, wrapping paper and gift tags can be created as well. Full day version includes more stamps and techniques. FYI: uses sharp tools |
TINY TINS SERIES:Watercolour / Gouache Travel sets
Create your own custom watercolour travel set to bring along and make art on the go! (also handy for those with limited storage space ;) Using all the smallest supplies and some clay we will customize a metal tin to contain all you need for pocket sized plein air painting and a custom pouch to hold it Optional part 2: We will then use our kits to sketch around the neighbourhood and regroup for tea to discuss how our kits worked out |
Intro to Drawing (Weekly Course / Workshop series - adaptable) While experimenting with different drawing media (pencil, charcoal, pastel, pencil crayon etc.), students will learn how to approach a variety of subjects including still life, perspective, shading, gesture drawing, faces, measuring, and more. |
Multi Media Art Explorations (or other titles) (Weekly Course)
(mix program drawing, painting, sculpture, craft) Try a bunch of new materials (like watercolour, graphite, charcoal, polymer clay, air dry clay, ink, acrylic, etc.) to experiment and find which ones speak to you! This is a great course for someone looking to get into art but not sure which materials to choose or how to get started with them. |
PET PORTRAITS - WEEKLY COURSE - 4 weeks or more
Learn Megan's methodical process for drawing realistic pet portraits using colour pencil. This new course will aim to cover a range of topics from choosing a reference photo, measuring methods, and colour selection to layering, burnishing, and highlights These meticulous drawings mean you spend significant time with the subject, and in every layer you find something new and get to know them better! Expect to spend some time working on your piece at home between classes |
Handmade Ornaments and Holiday Cards
2 part full day Seasonal Workshop Create your own personalized cards and sculpted ornaments for the holidays! Part 1: Students will design and plan an ornament, learn the basics of sculpting using polymer clay, add wiring and string their final pieces to take home. Part 2: Make your own personalized holiday cards using watercolour paints and other materials to give to your loved ones for the holidays |
