MEGAN HAS BEEN AN AVID ARTS EDUCATOR SINCE 2009 AS A WAY OF SHARING HER LOVE OF ART MAKING PROCESSES WITH OTHERS AND GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. PRIMARILY WORKING WITH CHILDREN AND YOUTH OVER THE PAST 16+ YEARS, SHE FOCUSES ON EXPLORING MATERIALS, BUILDING CONFIDENCE, AND INSTILLING AN APPRECIATION FOR ART AND ART MAKING FROM AN EARLY AGE. MEGAN HAS A SIMILAR APPROACH TO ADULT PROGRAMS,  WORKING WELL WITH BEGINNERS AND EXPERIENCED ARTISTS ALIKE. AS A PRACTICING MULTI-MEDIA ARTIST WHO LOVES EXPERIMENTING WITH MATERIALS AND PROCESSES, MEGAN IS WELL EQUIPPED FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF WELL ROUNDED PROGRAMMING IN DRAWING, PAINTING, SCULPTURE, CRAFT, FIBRE ART, AND MORE.

TEACHING HISTORY

Megan has been an avid arts educator since 2009 as a way of sharing her love of art making processes with others and giving back to the community. Primarily working with children and youth over the past 16+ years, she focuses on exploring materials, building confidence, and instilling an appreciation for art and art making from an early age. Megan has a similar approach to adult programs,  working well with beginners and experienced artists alike. As a practicing multi-media artist who loves experimenting with materials and processes, Megan is well equipped for a wide variety of well rounded programming in drawing, painting, sculpture, craft, fibre art, and more.

COLOUR THEORY FOR BEGINNERS

(6WK ADULT) ARTICULATIONS 
2802 DUNDAS ST. WEST, TORONTO

Get to know gouache better while mixing your own neutral greys, browns, and chromatic black with a minimal palette of 3 primaries (cyan, magenta, and yellow). While exploring hue, value, saturation, colour temperature, harmonies, and more, participants will gain confidence with colour matching / mixing and create their own swatch sheets, colour wheels, and references to inform future work.

Oh my Gouache! Beginner Gouache Painting

Gouache (rhymes with squash, say it like gwaash!) Using traditional gouache, and with a focus on creating and maintaining a sketchbook practice, we will explore colour mixing, layering, blending, glazing, and all the possibilities gouache offers!

Drawing Portraits and People For Beginners 

(6WK ADULT) ARTICULATIONS

Join us for this 4 week course as we cover the basics of drawing the human form, this course will get you more comfortable with sketching people out in the world and from your favourite photos. We will touch on measuring, simplifying complex forms, basic proportions for faces and bodies, gesture drawing, and show you warm ups to hone your skills in and out of class!

Learn to paint with traditional gouache through scene studies from your favourite movies! A gouache painting class with the subject focused on film - instructional, social, and entertaining! Each film gives us different opportunities for illustrating food, interiors, characters, or landscapes, as well as discovering styles, colour palettes, and aesthetics. Part fun movie night, and part painting class, we will try new gouache techniques, while being inspired by the aesthetics of each universe. Receive instruction and tips on layering, blending, colour mixing, how to solve the difficult bits, and more using gouache.   Popcorn and references included ;)
